MF230 with continental motor

I'm new to the MF scene. The manifold on my 230 is shot, I've ordered a replacement. The original manifold has a 1/4" hole tapped into the intake with hoses connected to the valve cover and the air intake pipe ahead of the carburetor. I get the PCV part of the program, it just seems odd that it's 1/4" unrestricted flow. It would seem to me that would make proper idle mixture a bit difficult to obtain. I also suspect that the replacement manifold will not have that access and I'm wondering if I should even attempt to duplicate that, or if I should just put a hose between the valve cover and the air intake pipe ahead of the carburetor.

The PCV valve controls the vacuum so you can get a good idle mixture. You can leave the PCV valve off, and plug off where the PCV valve went. The other hose can just vent to the outside instead of the air intake pipe, then you can cap off the air intake pipe where the other hose went. The older tractors with the same engine just has a vent tube from the side of the valve cover to the bottom of the engine on the outside.
