Been awhile since I had one apart, MF may have kits now but I had to get all the seals etc separately back then. You will need three gauges to check the pressures, in low range there is pressure to apply low, and pressure to RELEASE intermediate clutches. High range gauge and intermediate gauge release also work together too. The intermediate is applied with spring pressure, so all gauges will be at zero then.. When the low clutch piston or the intermediate release piston seals fail is when the trouble starts, leakage causes the two clutches to be on at the same time, burning the plates.. I believe if the tractor is allowed to warm up in intermediate, especially in cold weather clutches would last better. Never tried it but these tractors should start by rolling or pulling in higher gears if needed since the intermediate is applied by spring pressure..

I'll be getting into my 2705 this winter too. Will keep you updated. I bought an MF transmission service manual (I think, I'll have to check) from ebay. Has some info that is not in the tractor service manual. If you need info from it let me know.

Keep us updated on your progress, it will probably be in the new year before I get to transmissions. (Also have to do Case 2870).

I just rebuilt my powershift on my 2705 last winter it wasnt as bad as you would think. They do make an o ring kit.You will have to make a special tool to pull powershift out (pretty simple) and make a stand out of scrap tubing to slip imput shaft of powershift into to disassemble and assemble unit. I ended up having to replace intermediate friction disc along with all orings. You can get the guages to check pressures at any hydraulic shop.Check pressures first using procedures in the book.I ended up spending about 1700 in parts thats including new clutch and pressure plate. The tractor works great now. Also take lots of pictures for reference as you dissasemble unit.If you need more help i can try to help.

Good Day Ward:
