MF 65 (MHF)

After looking (starting to rebuild) at the late 1958 MF65 I have I noticed that it has MHF on side of transmission and axle housing. When did MF stop casting with the MHF. I always thought after the 1957 models all were MF except for the TO 35 with Ferguson badge .

my son's late '58 MF 65 also has MHF on all the castings. Serial number plate has Massey Harris Ferguson too.

I'm guessing here, but probably when they ran out of castings already made with the 'old' name. A neighbor has a MF50 (according to the serial tag), that has MHF on many castings. He's not sure of the year, but it's probably a '58.

Other colors of iron have had 'old' castings show up on equipment after a certain date when a change was supposedly made, as well as occasionally newer castings used before an official change was made. It may have depended on what was available on the assembly room floor, and just how well the company was keeping track of what went onto what. MF (and IH) seem to have it down to exact serial numbers for any significant change. Can't speak of others.
