MF 50 Knock

Went to buy a MF 50 today. It has a loud knock when you raise lift to top. Let 3 point down a very little and the knock stops. Clutch has no affect on knock half way down. If you push clutch to bottom it stops. It's very loud and sounds to me to be in transmission. Does not have knock when driving if lift is down a little. Any one had this problem or know what it could be? Owner said it was to full of oil. LOL

I'm not going on a 4 day trip to south Mexico to get it. I can't digest the food down there....
what size were those tires? 38? I did like the looks of those wheel centers, but maybe they weren't really massey either...

Hi,
To add to Dieseltech's words. The stop which controls the maximum lift height should be set so that the lift arm end balls can be lifted one to one and a half inches by hand. This will ensure that the lift system does not lock up. You will lose a little lift height but if this is a problem there should be alternate holes in the lift arms and of course you have the levelling gearbox and the adjustable one on the LHS. Look for wear whicj will also lose lift height.

our F40 had the pins that hold the hydraulic pump in the transmission housing snap off. When the 3 point had any load on it or was raised the pump would start hitting the inside of the trans case making a knocking noise
