Massey Ferguson 150 vs 50

Any significant difference between the MF150 and the MF50 tractors or is the 150 just a model 50 with newer sheet metal?

In particular, any difference in the power steering tower/mechanism in front of the radiator? PS better or worse on the 150 vs the 50?

Just curious.

Thanks!
Bill

I own both a Massey 150 and a Massey 50. I have never taken the time to examine both of the steering systems to see if there is a difference. The main difference between the tractors is the sheet metal. My 150 has a Continental Z145 Engine and the 50 has a Perkins 3.152 Diesel.

A 150 is a 135 power train but put in a heavier tractor. Think of it as a 165 with 135 drivetrain. Although is isn't exactly the same size as a 165 it is close. I would pick the 150 over a 50 any day of the week. Updated hydraulics, pressure control was available on them, several other improvements.

The 150 only had the z145, no z134. From what I've seen the 150 is pretty much the same tractor with different sheet metal (like the 35, and 135). The 50 had the z134 instead of the z145. Some of the other internal parts on the 150 maybe slightly upgraded, or improved. The front support, axle, and steering (power or manual) look the same. The power steering is a lot better than what the 135 had. Haven't run across a 150 with manual steering (at least where I am).

What are you trying to do?

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Don't have any plans on buying a MF150 - just notice occasionally they are for sale. They look a lot like my MF50 under the skin - just wondered is there was more to it than that.

Thanks again,
Bill

(quoted from post at 18:20:27 11/18/15) The steering components of a 165 are completely different than a 65. I would assume the same is true foe a 150 vs. a 50.

The 65 had the same steering as the 50, and 150. When the 65 was changed to 165 the steering was changed also.
