Pro's / Con's of swapping Multi Power for Standard Trans

I have a Massey Ferguson 50 that has a great running Perkins Diesel, Multi-Power Transmission, Allied Loader & power steering. The Multi Power transmission works fine with the lever in the up position, when the lever is moved in the down position, smoke comes rolling out of the shift boots. My guess is the the clutch discs inside are shot.

What are the pro's / con's of swapping out the transmission of this tractor for one that I have in a Massey Ferguson 35 that also has a Perkin's Diesel. My plan is to roll the multi power rear end and transmission out and roll the standard transmission and rear end in.

I'd like to sell the tractor but can't sell it knowing that there is a problem with the multi power?

Advice is appreciated.

The multi-power works off hydraulic pressure to engage the clutch pack in high range, in low range the clutch pack is disengaged. Every multi-power failure I've seen is that it won't go into high range, never heard of smoke coming out of the shifter boots.

Xs 2 what ptfarmer said, never heard of smoke. Only boot I could see smoke possibly coming from is the MP shift rod boot, that would be the main or PTO clutch disc slipping when loaded..
