I have a Massey Ferguson 50 that has a great running Perkins Diesel, Multi-Power Transmission, Allied Loader & power steering. The Multi Power transmission works fine with the lever in the up position, when the lever is moved in the down position, smoke comes rolling out of the shift boots. My guess is the the clutch discs inside are shot.
What are the pro's / con's of swapping out the transmission of this tractor for one that I have in a Massey Ferguson 35 that also has a Perkin's Diesel. My plan is to roll the multi power rear end and transmission out and roll the standard transmission and rear end in.
I'd like to sell the tractor but can't sell it knowing that there is a problem with the multi power?
Advice is appreciated.
