81 230 AD3.152 HEAD RETORQUE

Got my AD3.152 back together, should I retorque the head bolts! It has run about an hour with two new pistons and liner, runs great! I ordered a new head gasket from local dealer and the one I got was composite gasket, the one that came off it was copper, seems to be a very slight seepage from gasket from right side but none from Injection pump side of head gasket! I followed Massey Ferguson service manual on head bolt torque that showed 70-75 ft lbs of torque, also painted the gasket with several coats of aluminum paint thought that might help, but if I retorque and that does not stop the seepage may have to go with a copper gasket! It is not leaking from valve pan gasket,I have checked that, the head is dry below valve pan,it seems to be a very slight seepage from between block and head only on the lifter side!Has anyone run into this before using composite gaskets on these engines? Thanks!

should be re torqued while warm and re done after 50 hrs again warm not hot
never heard of painting them with paint
I always use copper coat
my ad 152 had a composite head gasket in it
was told dealer had put in new gasket yr before I bought it
I had it for 1 1/2 yrs before it failed about 30 hrs and I know the p.o. didn't use it much as its still
got under 1000 hrs on it
don't know why p.o. had it changed
I used the copper unit on it and have put over 200 hrs since then with no issues

Hello, blue water massey,I have used copper coat also in the past,it is good sealant, probably should have used it this time, had heard aluminum paint was good also but had never tried it until now!I think I will warm it up and drain fuel out of tank and remove it to get a retorque done, hopeing to get this little issue resolved with a retorque, but having second thought's about the composite gasket now,if retorqueing doesnt stop the seepage I will definatley replace with copper! Thank's for the reply!

The aluminum paint was a popular "sealant" (old mechanics trick that worked good) on head gaskets before the copper coat sealant came out.

Update on leaking composite head gasket,Retorqued with engine warm and found several that needed Retorque, the side that was seeping had one bolt that was very lose, that was why it was seeping,I know I checked head bolt Torque at least three time's when I installed it,and twice when I retorqued it!Let it run for about 15 or 20 min after cleaning the block and head good on the seeping side,no seepage now, seem's good to go! I want to thank everyone for helping me on this,Yesterday's Tractor's is a great tractor site with very helpfull and knowledgeable people!
