Servicing my 750 with a 354 today reminded me that previous 750's I ran had 372's. Wondering what the differences are.

354 had 3 7/8, {3.875} bore while the 372 used 3 15/16 {3.9375} bore, .062 larger than the 354. 372 used 9MM plungers in the CAV DPA injection pump. 354 turbo engines used 10MM plungers, or the late pumps had 4-7MM plunger head, non turbo engines used either 7.5 or 9MM plungers. Never saw a factory 372 turbo engine but M&W gear had a kit for the MF 750 combine. Dealer I worked for the MF service rep was not crazy about those kits but did admit to helping the low power of the 750 in heavy crops.

Like diesel tech said the bore size. There was a former Perkins official who worked out of their Detroit office who took a job with Owens College in their new diesel program that the 372 was only used in combines.
