MF 240-S Steering

I have about a quarter-turn of slop in the steering wheel. It is a 1997 MF-240-S. Would like to eliminate the slop. Is there an easy way to remove the slop? Itis not a farm problem, but driving into town the tractor does wander a bit. Just like to make it perfect. Thanks guys.

1/4 doesn't seem like enough to make it wander. I think you may have slop in wheel bearings. Try wiggling the front wheels and if they move then tighten.

Nope, wheel bearings are good. Tightening them down to zero made no difference. What it is doing, when steering with one finger, engine shut down, the steer wheel has a slight centering action, where it slightly wants to rest / sit in a middle position. Then with one finger, the wheel will move about 6" to left, before the steering arms move, then you can go back to center, and it will move 6' to right before steering arms want to move. Would like to eliminate the left / right sloppy movement, make it tight.
Anybody have any ideas?? Thaks guys.

Not familiar with the 240 but other models have adjustment on each side of steering sector. Getting it too tight will bust something so better to get a manual first.

Thank you, I appreciate it. You are correct, best to KNOW what I'm doing before hand. Thanks.
