Hey guys when I got my tractor it had a small pin hole in one of the power steering lines going to the left side piston. I replaced the line and have been trying to bleed the system. every time I think it is good it works for a while then it gets hard to steer I check the fluid and it is down so I bleed it again and the cycle continues. I have bled it 3 or 4 times so far am I missing something? also the previous owner put dextron 2 atf in it but did not run the tractor much (just when he was showing it to buyers) I have gotten most of it out and replaced it with recommended oil per service manual any help would be great
thanks
Joe

Is your engine oil rising? Maybe the pump seal is leaking into the timing case, as both of ours did and that's where your oil is going. If it drips from underneath like lots of these do and engine oil isn't
going down, ... Doubt the Dexron will hurt, believe it's what our manual called for.

thanks will check that and keep an eye on it, it does not seem to be rising and only a very small drip from under engine not enough to matter and seems to be intermittent. is the seal difficult to change?
thanks
Joe

Not really, just time consuming. If it's the pump inside the round canister, I pulled the whole unit, then just removed the reservoir and pulled the pump out, then replaced the seal. I think it's on the
engine side of the baseplate. Might be possible to change the seal by just removing the drive gear from the shaft, without pulling the pump from the plate, dunno ... You should get a new o-ring for the
canister before you start and may as well change the filter too if you've got to take it apart. Got them from the dealer.
