Hi Guy's,anybody that's tore down Perkins engine's ever see or hear of this, pulled the piston's and rods out of a AD3.152 diesel and the piston and ring's that was damaged was in front cylinder! But the number stamped on rod,rod cap and piston was number two,so don't remember if number 3 was in right place or not,I think it was, with number 1 in number 2 place!Anyone ever see this before,Oh by the way this Tractor was bought new by my father,it had never been touched by anyone other than me,not even by the dealer where it was bought from in late 1980 or early 1981! Just wondering! Thank's,these are tough little tractor's!

Hi, very interesting particularly if you can be certain that the engine has not been
touched since it was assembled whether in the US or UK. The position of the con-rods is not
important. What is crucial is that the con-rod numbers are on the left hand side, that is
the side of the main fuel pump and that the toroidal cavity (bowl) in the piston crown is
also towards the fuel pump.
Wonder if it might have been an engine that was dismantled for a routine quality check
between assembly and leaving the factory.

Hello DavidP,Yes,I know for sure this engine was never touched since the day they delivered it to us on a trailer by the Dealer!I am wondering like you that something like you described my have happened, did not really notice it at first,it was the front one that was damaged the one that I removed first,it was stamped # 2,both on the top of piston and rod and matching cap!Everything else was correct, rod number's on correct side toward Injection pump, front on piston's toward front of engine!Everything looked good in engine, rod bearing's did not have much wear on them at all, that was the only thing that I saw that was Incorrect, had never seen that before with engine that I know had never been torn down before,I could understand it if I had not known this engine's history, would have presumed someone had gotten in hurry rebuilding it! Thank's!
