Ok I have a Massey 135 with the Gas Perkinns engine. The throttle rod (for a lack of better terms) that is on the sterring console and runs down the side of the engine to the front cover of the engine seems to be loose. I'm new to the tractor world on this problem. If i manually move it around the engine knocks. The engine shut off last night while I was working on it. It seems to maybe have jumped time, I'm not sure but now when I attempt to turn it over it just does the old thunk noise any advice on this issue? Thanks

Are you talking about the shut off (on the left side) or the throttle under the steering wheel (on the right side?)

The shift off has to be pushed all the way forward when running otherwise you will get knocking and improper fuel flow as the engine wants to shut off.

If you are talking about the throttle that goes down the dash onto a plate that connects to a rod that travels to a hinge and then back across to the left side and attaches to another rod that runs along side the engine and into the injector pump on top. If it is moving on its own may need to tighten a few things...if not there are 2 stops that may or may not have aluminum tubes covering that that you can remove and adjust the idle /throttle ranges.

The Perkins gas is a 3 cyl. engine. Sounds like you have a loose rod/main problem. Don't do much clunking or you will have a hole in the side of the block. You must drop the oil pan and see what is loose.
