Our MF 65 gas utility has a loader, foot throttle, 3 speed trans. w/ clutch and Hi/Lo range with a hand lever to switch from forward to reverse. I noticed the governor doesn't seem to engage on its own. I need to keep giving it more foot throttle as the load increases. My other tractors have the hand throttle set at one level and as load increases the governor will kick in when needed. Maybe the foot throttle causes this to act differently?
The tractor will fly down the road (20 mph) in Hi range 3rd gear but quickly loses power when a hill is reached requiring shifting into 2nd gear or 1st if pulling a load. Other than that the tractor works great. I was just wondering if this is normal for this setup. I did remove the gas tank and replace the springs on the throttle/governor rod connection so that's not a problem. Works the same as before the springs were replaced. A complete turn up and timing was done when I bought it 2 years ago. It runs very smooth. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
