Gentlemen,
Over the last 3 days, my Massey 44 has really been acting out of the normal. It starts almost immediately without choke applied, but makes a muffled knocking sound (and runs a little rough) that goes away after about 5 or 6 seconds. I also notice that the oil pressure gauge reads zero during those 5 - 6 seconds after it starts. It finally reads pressure (20 - 25 psi), smooth's out and runs pretty good. I really haven't noticed this before or was just too ignorant to be aware of it. It has the H260 engine. I'm thinking that the oil pump is the culprit. If so, are rebuild kits or rebuilt pumps still available? I have a condensed version of a shop manual (I&T) and guess I need to locate a repair manual for a 1947 model. I absolutely appreciate this forum and any assistance given.
Best Regards,
Sapper
