MF1085 No lift or PTO

Somehow I went into it thinking the lift worked, but the PTO didn't. No pressure at test port. I think it's because another guy went ahead and started tearing it down. I get the rear housing split, turn the PTO shaft, and it turns without much resistance. Before, it was locked solid and wouldn't turn shifted in or out.

So I've come to the conclusion that the problem lies in the IPTO, but I have no real understanding of it. The manual gives little insight, I can't even tell how it works. I see hydraulic lines connected to it, but from where?

I find it obvious that it's now been split in the wrong place. Also, when dropping the fuel tanks, I had a couple of buttons fall out when I removed the cover from the bottom of the clutch housing. Like the worn almost to nothing remains of a couple of clevis pins which finally broke. I couldn't see anything missing in observation, turning the engine and looking at the clutch.

This is a multi power transmission, does anyone have any insight?

With the ipto the tractor has a split torque clutch, the clutch plate that runs the shaft that runs the hydraulic pumps is part of the pressure plate so the hydraulic pumps run continuously. My guess the center part of the clutch broke, and its no longer turning the shaft, and pumps. The 3 point, ipto, and multi-power need hydraulic pressure to work.

That's about all I could think of, but the manual shows a single disc arrangement. I'm thinking I should bolt it back together with a new gasket and split it at the clutch.

The split torque clutch has only one clutch plate, but the second plate with splines is fixed to the pressure plate to run the hydraulic pumps, and pto instead of using another clutch plate. So you are headed in the right direction.

Should look like this.

If all 3 aren't working your pto shaft from the clutch is not turning. Those buttons are most likely the rivets that hold the internal splines to the clutch plate. The 3 pt hitch works off of the main pump and remotes / ipto work off of the aux pump. These tractors are bad about burning up pto clutch packs if the pressure from aux gets low.

Thank you all, will report back once I get that far.

From the hole underneath, I could see a good bit of fresh oil on the release bearing carrier. It was clean, so I assume it was from the transmission. Input shaft seal?

Probably, it doesn't hurt to change them while you have it split.

It was indeed the split torque clutch. Hub was completely separated from the pressure plate. Kit was cheap, replacement easy enough. Had to wrap some tape around my alignment tool to fit the 25 spline hub.
