Regular diesel has injectors that are straight up in the cylinder head, and a wedge casting two piece oil pan. Later direct injected engine has the injectors at an angle and a one piece oil pan. That's the quickest way to identify the engines.

Both are 203, 3.6 bore x 5.0 stroke. England also had a 192, 3.5 bore x 5.0 stroke. Main difference between the early regular and later direct injected engines is how the fuel was burned, pistons, injectors, and heads design.
