MF 135 Single Wire Alt Hook UP

I have a MF 135 diesel and I'm trying to install a single wire alternator with internal regulator. Can someone give advice on how to do this. I will post pictures of what it currently looks like. The fuel gauge has never worked since I've owned the tractor, so I'm not concerned about it at this point. I just want the battery to charge correctly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the system wired up as per the diagram complete with brand new battery. The issue is when starting a spark jumps off the positive side of battery. The engine starts and the alternator is charging the battery as checked with a meter. I shut down the motor and tried to restart and nothing just a spark. I disconnected the battery and now I'm trying to figure out what is wrong. Any suggestions?

How good is the positive battery cable, sounds like a bad, or dirty connection at the battery. If the positive battery cable, and clamp looks like it has seen better days, a new battery cable may help (check all the connections, make sure they are clean). Maybe have the battery load tested, I've had a new battery now, and then over the years that were bad off the shelf.

thanks, the battery cable does look somewhat battered. I will recheck everything and replace the cable. I also have a new solenoid I could install. I guess I might as well do that too while I'm at it.

thanks

I did some trouble shooting and sure enough the battery cable was bad. Replaced it with a new one and now everything appears to be working fine.

thanks

My 202 was doing that periodically, spark from the pos cable, couldn't ever seem to get it tight enough. Eventually the crack that I couldn't see became a break. Time for a new one!
