Dads 135 lift works goes up and down fine, but it will not stay where you set it. May take a few minutes but it eventually will go all the way op or all the way down. Also if you raise it all the way up it has a knock in it. Where to start? Thanks

Hi,
If you have a knocking sound it may be due to one or both pump dowel pins being broken. An initial start is to drain the oil and remove the RH round side cover. On the outside of the casing you will see an oval plate on each side. These are retained by two 5/16" nuts. Remove one at a time and check for a broken end. They go through the case and into the pump body. If one or two are broken the pump can bang against the casing. With the pump dropped slightly this will affect the control of the linkage too. If you find a broken pin check the pump body as this could be broken as well. This will entain pump removal.

You don't by any chance put the position control lever into "Constant Pumping" when you fully raise the linkage do you? That will cause the pump to knock. I knew a guy who complained that his Massey linkage would go up and down but never stay in one place , it would just 'wander' to use his own words. It turned out that he was using the draft control lever to raise and lower the linkage all the time, no matter what he had hung on the back......He had never heard of 'Position control'....oh well :(
