MF 265 Seized Up.

A farmer has asked me to help him repair his MF 255. An employee of his continued to operate the tractor with low oil due to a leak at the oil pressure gauge. As a result of low oil the 4 cylinder Perkins Diesel engine seized up. The tractor has a 65 hp Perkins. I have been researching and feel this is a model 4.236 Perkins Diesel.

I have restored two Fords, two Farmalls, and a MM, all gas. I have never been into a diesel.

Any suggestions, comments, cautions, or just plain old flaming will be appreciated.

I don't know anything specific about the 4.236 but I redid a Massey with a continental 277. Just treat it like a gas engine with sleeves. How the valves are handled might be different because of having to maintain the compression ratio, but any shop you have the head redone at will know that.

On the 277 it was just replace the valves and seats to keep the same combustion chamber volume. I did a rering because the sleeves were good but the rings were setup, due to years of setting, making it burn oil like crazy.
