So I was brush hogging yesterday and after a hour or so the pto kept shutting down. And if I lifted bathe brush hog up it would return to spinning then mow for a while again and it would shut down. Is the pto clutch bad or any ideas.

Do you have the independent pto (you can engage it, or disengage it without using the clutch), or do you have live pto (where you have to push the clutch pedal all the way down to put the pto in, and out of gear)?

The IPTO uses a second pump to work it with a hydraulic actuated clutch, so it would be either the pump, or hydraulic clutch pack. You will have to split the tractor at the rear end to get at it. Since it uses a split-torque clutch you would have heard some noise from the bell housing if it was the clutch.

I don't hear any noise. But this tractor did
sit for 10 plus years and I don't really
feel the secondary pto clutch in the pedal
could it be seized/ stuck open

The split-torque clutch is really a single stage clutch, the split-torque clutch does not disengage the second hydraulic pump/pto like a two stage clutch does. The ipto is engaged by a clutch pack behind the transmission that requires hydraulic pressure to engage like a automatic transmission in a car.
