Massey 55 ring gear

Have a Massey 55 (gasoline engine) that has a rough spot on the flywheel ring gear. The thought is to either replace the ring gear or try heating and rotating it on the flywheel to get to a better spot so the starter will engage as it should. Haven't had any luck in finding a new gear. Any suggestion on a source for a replacement gear? If not, any suggestions on how far to turn the damaged gear to remedy the problem? Thanks in advance.

Thanks 44Wheatland, I posted the question for an older relative who asked me to find him a new ring gear, I didn't realize it could be turned over. He didn't want to go through the trouble of pulling the engine unless he had a solution in sight. If it can be turned over, problem solved! Thanks again.

Not all ring gears can be "turned over" ...... some can and some cannot depending on the grind, etc. But they can all (I think all) be removed and rotated say 180 degrees and you get some fresh teeth to start (since the tractor always stops in the same place and you are always starting in the same location).
