I have a 1971 mf3165 it was a old state tractor. I bought it with no upper cross shaft lift arms. I am trying to order the cross shaft arms for it and in the discription it says for some models that the lift arm may work on both right and left side. Just trying to figure out if I need to order 2 of the same part the number is 885444m91 but there's also another part number 885446m1.

When I looked up those part numbers it came
up as it needs a 3 inch diameter piston
mines only 2 1/8 diameter

Could you also tell me the part number for
the lower lift arms and if a mf 165 has the
same ones

Ptfarmer would you happen to know what part number my altinator would be I have a perkins 4 cylinder gas in my 3165

If the tractor is a utility (not a turf tractor), It uses the same arms as a standard 165 (lower right lift arm part # 184342M93) and (lower left lift arm part number # 184343M93). They measure 30 1/2" center to center. You may want to measure from the lower front lift arm bolt outwards to make sure they will stick out behind the back tires some before you buy them.

A gas 3165 has a Continental G-176 engine. The gasser shows to only have a generator (Delco-Remy #1100-435), or AGCO/MF part number 509057M91 (unless if someone swapped in a alternator). Only the later year model diesel came originally with a alternator 518880M91.

Thanks I appricate the help. Also someone
put bigger rims and tires on this. I would
need about a 36 inch arm Center to center to
get it past the tire also. All the salvage
places I have contacted didn't have much.
Could I got to a locale salvage yard and get
a 36inch arm thats catigory 2 and it work or
are these arms that spacific.

The high clearance row crop 165 used up to a 14x38 rim (with up to 15.5x38 tires). Lower right lift arm part # 184344M93 (34 1/2" long center to center). Lower left lift arm part # 184370M93 (34 1/2" long center to center). Those are the longest arms listed for a 165. I think you could use those 36" Cat 2 lift arms as long as they have a right, and left arm. The 165 could come with either Cat 1, or Cat 2 lift.

they do have a right and left arm that are
cat 2 and their 36 inches. So you think that
they can be swapped from another tractor?

The tractor won't know the difference. Depending on the lower pivot pins on the tractor if they are for Cat 1 you can get reducer bushings to put into the Cat 2 arms so they won't fit loose on Cat 1 pins. Tractor supply, or a local tractor dealer should have those bushings.
