Massey 240 Remote Hydraulic Question

I have a Massey 240 that I bought a while back. I've just recently needed to use the remote hydraulics (it has the double spool valve mounted under the driver's seat, directly to the lift cover). I've been using a nh 472 haybine with double acting cylinder and the tractor handles it great. I'm having trouble, though, raising and lowering the header. When the tractor is idling it works great, however, when I'm running at working speed, I'm getting a lot of resistance on the remote valve and basically have to force it to work. It will raise and lower, but acts like it's getting a ton of back-pressure on the system. I have fiddled with the valve and know that you can adjust for single acting or double acting cylinders. I've got the lift arm control in constant pumping and the small screw under the control valve all the way in for a double acting cylinder, but I'm running out of ideas to solve this problem. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I'm not familar with the equipment being used off the spool bank, but your description of the problem sounds like a restiction in the return of oil back from the implement. By that I mean that the return oil from the implement is possibly not flowing thru the spool bank freely via the quik-release coupler.
Can you adapt another hose or use the existing one, and return it to the transmission case thru the filler plug or one of the blanking plugs on the side face of the lift(hitch) cover? If the control then works freely at revs, this will identify the return coupler/fitting as the culprit,
just a thought, Evan.
