OK here at pictures of the drive shaft retainer

can this be built up and turned back to get rid of the groove in it?


Or should it be replaced.

I also was told the input shaft where the sealing rings are that the grooves can wear where the sealing rings are????

Place some new rings inside the retainer, and see how the rings look at the hook gap. If the hook ends are not close to touching together they will seal fine. Do the same on the hollow PTO input shaft with the smaller ring pair. I have cheated before and filed the ring hooks a bit to get more life out of the rings and worn retainer. One summer several years ago I had three high hour tractors that all needed the retainer housings..
