Im rebuilding the power steering on my tractor, the manual says to use type a transmisson fluid in the power steering and 90 wt mineral oil in the gear box. someone said it is better to use grease in the gear box. what do you guys think. thanks

My TO35, 1957 model calls for 90 weight mineral oil, GL-1 in the steering gear box. I
check it about once per year, still full and works fine.

Only reason you might use corn head grease, if the gearbox was leaking and you did not
want to fix the leak, the corn head grease might stay in box better than the 90 weight
oil.

For steering gear boxes I whip up my own 50-50 blend of wheel bearing grease and 90 wt. to whatever thickness i like. Pour it in s-l-o-w-l-y, and it stays, works geat.

Lucas Oil wheel hub oil works good (used in wheel hubs semi trailers), its a little thicker than gear lube, and is really sticky. It kind of seals small leaks, unless the bushings, and seals in the steering are really worn out.
