Update: MH 44K Gas Tank Full of Dried Tar

In my last posting, I think I incorrectly stated that my "gas tank had about one and a half inches of dried hard tar in the bottom." I do mean the main tank, not the small "gas tank." My bad, I didn't mean to confuse the issue. You guys are absolutely correct, my 44 was a kerosene burner originally. I really need to get this thing cleaned and put to use. I'll post picture(s) of the inside if I can get them with my camera. I appreciate all the responses to this post.
Thanks again!!

The main tanks are all alike (except the ones that had the fill to the rear of the tank) so I would just replace that tank with a good clean one or one that can be sealed. I think it will be hard to get that stuff completely out of the tank.
