Could some one give me some info as to what the datatronic feature does . I am looking at a 3650 model but seller says this feature is not working . Is it an expensive / difficult repair . Any information would be greatly appreciated

Datatronics was an early computer system that monitored tractor systems functions.....i.e., fuel usage per hour/per acre, wheel slippage, acres covered per hour as a few examples......
It was a very basic system that was very easy to use.......probably pretty expensive option at that time!?
As far as fixing it or troubleshooting it I'm of no help there......sorry!
I'd be surprised if parts are even available anymore!!??

We had a 3680 with the datatronic mine went out and couldn't find any in salvage yards and as for
parts they are vary expensive we finally scraped ours after the power shift blew up and parts
alone were over 10,000 dollars and some they couldn't get

Brother has three 8160s, one has Datatronic. When planting with it this spring it lost power after about two hours. Found the fuel measuring unit was restricting the fuel at times so we rerouted the fuel lines around it. Had no more power loss when hot after that..

They weren't much good when they were new actually! I well remember when they first came onto the market I knew someone who bought one and it 'died' on him whilst still under warranty, so after a very long walk home back to the farm he called his dealer who sent a fitter out to have a look at it. The fitter scratched his head and said " Sorry mate, I know nothing about these, in fact they are so new that not many people in the country even know where to begin where repairs are concerned!" and he drove off! The farmer's reaction? "I wished I that had never seen the b***y thing!"

(quoted from post at 02:15:11 07/25/15) I have a 3680 and that's a new one on me.

I agree, I always thought the 3600 series was a very dependable series of tractor......the later 3690 had the dynashift tranny which would of been sweet with 32 forward/32 reverse shifts!
I never heard anything bad about the Valmet engine they used either!
Unfortunately sometimes we experience a " bad egg " outta the bunch and in no way should that dictate the dependability of a whole tractor series!
Only thing I did hear of the 3600 series was that some of the electrical connections weren't moisture proof and owners could experience problems due to this......
