Parts needed MH 44 & 30

I saved a 1949 MH 44 and a 1950 MH 30 from going to the scrap metal yard. My Dad and I are working on the 44 to just get it running and driving so we can sell it to fund the restoration of the 30 (or just get my $ back out of it as it was a package deal). Hindsight being 20/20, I probably should have just parted it out but I would rather see someone restore it and that would take a lot of time better spent working on the 30 and my Grandfather's AC WD45.

The latest 44 issue is a bent push rod, broken rocker arm assembly stand and stuck valve. Does any one know where I can find these replacement parts?

I am also missing the hood for the MH 30. Since this one will be fully restored I would like to find a hood in good shape. I could also use the front nose as the cross bars on mine are pretty bent up.

I have some used parts, post pictures of what is broke.

Do not put much money in 44, they do not sell well.

3 cylinders have good compression but # 2 has a bent push rod and the stand that holds the rocker arm assembly is broken, so I definitely need those 2 engine parts. The valve is also stuck and may be bent as well, so I may also need that. Next time I go down to my Dad's to work on it, we will pull the head and see what else is going on. I agree on the low resale value, but we think a functional tractor will sell better, and we have already started down the rabbit hole. No turning back now. Thanks, and I will let you know when I find out more.

I have a 30 grill that is not pristine but it could be worse. I had it up on eBay but no bids were placed. Here is a link where you can see pictures and such.

Thanks Zach, actually I saw that on Ebay and the price is right, but my grill is about the same shape. What I really need is a good hood for a 30. I would also try Craigslist for your grill, someone close by might be looking for one. We sell a lot on Ebay and it can be real finicky. You put up an item and not one bid then realist it later and 10 people are fighting over it.

Dave,

The 44 grill is good enough, but I would like to get the rocker arm stand from you. Do you have a push rod and valves also? I will know more in a couple weeks once we get the head off.

PM me with your info and we can figure something out, it would be nice to take those parts with me when I head down to Dad's.

(quoted from post at 12:43:56 07/09/15) Fix up the 44 and sell the 30.The 44 is
worth more than the 30.

Well in the upper Midwest the 44s are a dime a dozen and 30s are pretty rare. Anyway for me the 30 is just such a neat little tractor with its flathead Continental engine. It will be restored for parades and tractor rides, so value and collectability aren't really an issue for me. It will be showroom quality and maybe a little souped up as those antique tractor rides can get a little competitive.😉😉

Wow!! Thanks FBH44, I will definitely check these out. I travel around a lot through the MN country side for my job and am constantly rubbernecking every farm place looking for old tractors. It's mostly JD green and Farmall red I see around here and I'm an AC Orange and MH red guy myself. Although an Oliver 66 or 77 would warrant a stop. I will be on the Riverside Iowa tractor ride Saturday riding a 1948 styled WC Allis. Lucky for me it has overdrive so I can keep up with the crowd. You definitely need earplugs when in OD.

If you where closer I have a MH30 parts tractor out back and probably have most stuff you. need. I have almost enough stuff to make it run other then the #2 piston that went AWOL a few years back

You have a stuck valve, that bent the push rod. Which rod do you have 5/16 or 3/8? Is it an exhaust valve? Gaskets, valve grind, etc watch how deep you get in this, cause you can easily tie up $1,000. If you need parts, I will give the valve train parts if you pay shipping. Building these pulling engines has got me overflowing with stock parts

H2omelon55. I will have dad measure the push rod. Thanks for the help. I was at a 4th of July antique tractor pull an MH 44s took 1st and 2nd. Left the Johnny poppers and Farmall Ms in the dust!!

Geez...just went through Minnesota last week....had i known I could have brought those parts from Canada...coulda, woulda, shoulda....good luck, both are good tractors.

The push rod is 5/16 dia. and 17 3/16 long. So I need (1) push rod, (1) exhaust valve, and (1) rocker arm stand. Click on the email button at the bottom of this message and send me your info and I will get you my UPS # and shipping info. Thanks again so much for the help!!
