MH Pony front wheels wobble

Does anyone know what makes the front wheels wobble on my MH Pony? 1st gear, no wobble, 2nd. gear some wobble, 3rd. gear lots of wobble, crazy, and hang on. Thanks, Basil

Worn gears in the steering gear box.
Might try tightening up the gears, but be very careful, gears are worn at the point tractor goes straight, but when you turn right/left the gears are probably in almost new condition. Get the gears too tight and you can bust your steering gear box.

First I would try giving the front wheels a small amount of toe out.

My old Ferguson had a shimmy, I had tightened the gears as tight as I dared. I gave the front tires a small amount of toe out and the shimmy was much better on the road.

Then I got new front tires, tri rib tires, the shimmy when away and I adjusted the toe end back to spec, no more problems.

This '51 shimmies a little too. There's some wear / play in all of the steering linkage from the gearbox all the way past the tie rods. Some play in the wheel bearings too. Which of us at 64 years old doesn't wobble some and drip a little too?
