MF 180 clutch again

Follow up to my previous post: after grinding the slot again and degreasing the shaft I got the free travel adjustment to hold. That is when I discovered the pto adjustment is out of wack. Seems with clutch pedal an inch or so up the pto will stop. Go a little further and it starts again. Tried adjusting the bolts and been from no clearance to .080 and can't find a better setting than I have. Seems any where else and it just keeps running. Any thoughts on this?

Give the shaft bracket a bit MORE free play. Anytime the PTO stops and starts with more pedal travel that means the release levers are traveling too far and catching the PTO hub rivets. Lengthening the rod slightly will help too. Have seen it many times before..

Hi, yes, I would agree with Dieseltech. I have seen this a number of times too. Excessive travel on the release arms will cause them to make contact with the PTO plate hub. Once you have the .080 or so and the plate frees then you have to increase free travel. Ideally the PTO should stop with the padal about one inch from full depression.
