65 steering- further right than left

My 65 diesel with power steering turns farther to the right than left. I hadn't noticed it til I was out baling and turning some tight corners. Hard to describe but I would say the fronts turn 30% less on the left. When the arm at the base of the steering pedestal is centered (halfway between full range of motion) and the front wheels straight, the drag link is the correct length. I tried making it longer or shorter with no noticeable change. With the drag link disconnected the arm at the base of the steering pedestal will swing aft (left turn direction) another inch. My manual doesn't offer much help so I'm turning to the brain trust for help. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Power steering functions the same in both directions, just can't get the range when turning left.

Hi,
You are likely to have a different type of system in the US to the ones in the UK. However the principle of operation is broadly the same. Have an operator turn the steering wheel back and forth just enough to activate the spool valve. It is likely that there is wear in the linkage which is losing movement at a certain point but which is not present when turning the other way. The normal cause of unequal steering is either adjustment or wear in the bushes and/or main vertical shaft. A small amount of wear will cause a problem.

Thank you David. So you r belief is this is related to the turnbuckle that controls the valve? I drilled out the hole last year and put a larger cotter key in to tighten up the linkage. I'll fuss with it some more. Gotta go bale a bit now.
Thanks. Tim
