Any idea what these are on my Pony??

Hello there

Please find attached photos of two different parts on this Pony I just bought.

One seems to be some sort of hydraulic pump mounted on the engine next to the water pump, but I can find to evidence of actuators and/or cylinders.

The next is a large bracket mounted on the RH side of the engine area and appears to be partially welded to the frame. Just curious what folks here think MIGHT have been mounted there...

Thanks in advance!

No idea what the bracket is, but the pump is the pump for the hydraulic lift. Word of caution here, the fan is bolted to the pump shaft. The bearings of that pump shaft are supposed to run in the oil that is not in your pump.

Thanks for the advice!

Can you please advise when you have the time on how to properly 'bypass' that pump so I can fill it with oil (engine oil or tractor hydraulic fluid?) Also, what did that little pump run originally? I haven't seen any photos except with the mechanical implement lift like mine has so far...

It appears the pony engine uses thermal energy (no water pump) to move the water through the radiator, right? Was there ever a temp gauge installed, and if so, where would the sensor and the gauge be normally located?

Thanks again, I'm VERY new to the Pony world...

Make a little cover that goes over the 2 studs and allows the oil to flow between the two holes. One hole is the pressure, and the other returns into to tank. Not sure what the correct oil is, but I use 5-30. The hydraulic lift had a cylinder valve combo that mounts under your right foot.

You are right, no water pump, and I don't believe temp gushes were offered.

I'm thinking a bypass plate will work as well.

Anyone have photos of original Pony implements which use the hydraulic pump?

My little red tractor came with the cultivator, but only with the manual lift assembly...

Thanks again!!
