I just bought my first Massey. It's a nicely restored 230 with 3 cylinder Perkins.
My question is, I don't see a place for a toolbox. Anybody ever add one and where would you mount it. I don't expect to have to wrench on the tractor for some time, but would like a place to carry spare shear bolts for the rotary mower and tools to replace a broken one.
I am also thinking of adding flashers. Anybody know where I can buy an extra rear fender bracket for the right side, like the work light is bolted to?

Hi,
Traditionally toolboxes on UK tractors were mounted on the axle radius rods or on the inside of the mudguard(fender). Progress has dictated that smaller MFs no longer have radius rods and it you have a rollbar or other device fitted the fender is almost out.
The attached picture of a 240 shows the toolbox mounted on the side of the bonnet (hood). Yes, it might look OK but I would not be too happy about it vibrating all of the time!!!! The second picture is of my 165 with a mechanics size toolbox mounted on a bracket at the side of the engine. The rear of the bracket picks up two of the clutch housing bolts and the front, one of the mounting point holes. You could use the sump (oil pan) bolts or sump to axle casting bolts. Finished in Stonleigh grey I think it looks the part....almost as an original fitment. MF 500 series tractors had a smaller box mounted in a similar way. This box is in addition to the two boxes which are an integral part of the mudguards.

Never have found the ideal place on my 240-S with front end loader. Don't think there IS a good place. . Currently have toolbox mounted above PTO shaft, and it works, but awkward and cannto get to it with PTO shaft turning. Latest hot idea is mounted to back of seat, but I dont' know... not much better. I HAVE removed the battery access cover on the hood, and replaced that with n open tool tray, and that is REAL handy. Slightly ugly, but EXTREMELY handy.

one we have came with it mounted to the left fender,i've also seen them mounted to the right side of the hood
