On M/F 40 what stops rotation on forward reverse shuttle?Is it a syncro?

Don't think there's anything. Just make sure you come to a complete stop, clutch down far enough to disengage trans and make sure it's in the selected direction before continuing on. This always works on our 30B and was the key on my dad's 2200. No reason to select neutral on the shuttle. Use the range or trans for neutral and you won't have to worry about it grinding so long as the tractor's not moving.

Thanks for info.I looked at parts picture and did not see a syncro .I thought I missed it I shift high low into netural

according to my operator manual from massey on my 20 tlb

you are to put transmission, range selector and F&R shuttle into neutral before operating the back hoe which I always do

have always needed to wait a min for gears to stop spinning to re engage shuttle or range
