massey 44,leak

have a leak on a 44 Massey,on the transmission cover that is square,but with points up and down with four half inch bolts holding it on,when I remove it,is there something it holds in place ? it is in the belly on the right side of input shaft.Thanks

I think you are talking about the shifter rod block, I will have to look what is inside.

That's the pinion shaft front bearing holder, there's a gasket for the cap, but shims are used next to the case between the holder and case to adjust the ring/pinion gear mesh. The shift rail block assembly uses smaller 3/8 hardware..
