I have a 165 with a loader with a bad engine , it has multi power, I have a 165 with a good engine without multi power
will there be any problems with taking the good engine and putting it in the one with the loader?
I am a Ford IH guy
Thanks

It shouldn't be a big deal as long as both are gas or both are
diesel. They don't really mix and match unless you have a
complete tractor. If you have one of each it can be done but it'd
be more work.

As mentioned, if both have the same make/model/fuel should be no problem. Early gas is G176 Continental while late gas is AG4.212 Perkins, don't think they will interchange easily without other parts too which you should have, just more work. The diesel would be the easiest as only the AD4.203 was used.

the one with the good engine has a junk hydraulic pump water in it and froze the one with the bad engine has a good hydraulic system. and a loader both are diesel

Both are diesels, then its a easy swap, both are the Perkins AD4.203 engines.

That I have thought about, but one has multi power and the other does not will it work swapping behind the tranny ?

Perkins never put in the counterbalance in the 203 like the 212, 236, 248, 302, and 318 had. Brother growled at dad years ago the 165D kept shaking apart the car radio he had redneck mounted on the fender. The 180 radio stayed together just fine..

Perkins did not fit the Lanchester balancer unit in UK 165s with the 212 engine although it was fitted to French and American-made ones. Apparently the 212 and 236 in their original specification without the balancer did suffer vibration problems. Perkins decided to fit the balancer to the 236 only. In extreme cases the balancer would be retro-fitted to the 212.

The 4.203 is basically a 3.152 with a extra cylinder (they both use the same rod, piston, sleeve), but the 3.152 has a balancer weight. I would imagine a engine machine shop that does engine balancing could balance the 4.203. They may not be able to get all the shake out, but it seems it could be made to run smoother than it does. They would probably have to balance it with the flywheel on the crank, then add, or remove weight from the flywheel.

The US late 165 gas used the AG4.212 Perkins, neighbor had one. Engine needed repair after the hard air hose cracked at the carb once allowing dust to enter the engine. That engine had the balancer just like the US 236 and 248 did. There was an industrial 248 that did not have the balancer used by Allis-Chalmers in an articulated loader I've seen also, that block even looks different on the outside..

The Perkins 212 gasser uses the same balancer as the Perkins 236 gasser (same part number). The balancer in the 236 diesel has the same basic balancer assembly as the gasser, but the diesel uses different weights in the balancer.

What is the best way to get that line a loose at the left top of the trans/ rear inside. Pull the lift cover or the shifter top /
