1955 Massey Harris Ferguson TO35

I recently bought a farm and it had a 1955 Massey Harris Ferguson TO35 on it. I have a few questions but will start with is it diesel or gas. Doing research it says there are letters by the serial number to tell but I don't have any. I will post a picture of the plate to see if I'm missing something. My next question is regarding color. It is painted red and grey but all the sites I am reading say it should be grey and green. The big thing right now is finding what fuel it needs then I can worry about the paint later. It has sat so long I'm sure I'll have lots of questions but any help would be great!
Thanks again.

it is definitely a 1955. color should be grey and green as mine is. early TO-35's did NOT have letter prefix's before the serial number. not exactly sure when that started. most likey a Z-134 gasoline engine unless the engine was swapped. if it has spark plugs and distributer it is a gasoline engine. you will notice the background color of the ID tag is green.

best to post questions about your tractor on the harry ferguon page. lotta guys know way far more than me about these great old machines.

take more pics and post them. we all enjoy looking at old iron.

Steve is right on the money. My TO35 is 1955 and has a Continental Z-134 gas engine. Green and grey paint colours.

If the old tractor has set for a good long while, you might be better off getting a tractor mechanic to look at it for you.

It really should have the motor turned over with a wrench, to be sure the motor it is not locked, the fuel tank cleaned, carb cleaned, oil changed etc.

It could have a bad clutch, blown motor, turn into a major money pit.

did I mention!!!!!!It might be better to have someone (mechanic) with good knowledge of these old tractors look at it for you and give you an full assessment of what you are looking at cost wise.

Why was it left or abandoned???? Good luck and keep us informed of your progress.
