MF 50 on LP Problems

My Dad bought it in 1959 and it has been in my possession since 1990. Unfortunately its in need of of some repair to the evaporator or regulator which is troubling because of the scarcity and/or absolute unavailability of parts. I do know its not getting fuel to the cylinders but it is getting past the inline filter. I have a manual detailing the R&R but it is vague on troubleshooting. Can anyone help me get started? Too, is there much hope in being able to get it fixed?

It is probably a problem with your fuel convertor. The diaphragms are thin rubber and often get holes in them. No tractor manufacturer ever built their own LP gas components. They were built by outside vendors. You need to do some research and see what brand your system is and see if parts are still around. If not, there are several companies such as Century and Beam that offer conversion systems. I have an 830 Case LP that has been converted to a Century regulator and carb system and it runs great!

Made by Zephyr but can't seem to run down any parts. You mention fuel convertor....that the same as evaporator?

Yes, same as evaporator. I don't think I have ever heard of that brand. Both of my LP tractors run Century LP equipment. One is all factory and my Case came out with an Impco setup but has been converted to a Century carb and converter. Look up Century lp products on google and you should be able to find the components to convert it.

Just an update. Got in contact with Zenith and they said forget parts but they have replacement evaporators and regulators.
