mf65 power steering I goofed it up

My mf65 steering has some play in the steering wheel before it actually moves the wheels. While I had it up on blocks awaiting hubs/bearings, I tried adjustments on the vertical pin that has the large nut and straight screwdriver slot, and also tried moving the adjustments on the turnbuckle type piece above the ram. Now after getting the tractor back on the ground it hesitates some turning to the right and is very difficult to turn to the left. Prior to me trying to adjust it the steering worked very easily, but only had play in it. I tried getting it back to the positions it was at prior but must not be even close. Any help would be appreciated. I would also like to know the title of the manual that would give step by step technique in adjusting steering as well as other repairs and adjustments. Does the manual go by sn?

I also wanted to add that there is no line or dipstick on the PS resovoir, how close to the top of cannister is full?

Yes, I adjusted that pin, but now I'm not sure where it was when I started adjusting and haven't found the happy spot since. Is there a good starting point like adjustment on carburetors?

You need enough play in that pin to allow the valve to move to the end of its travel in both directions before the wheels move. It is likely that the pins in the end of the valve linkage, and the holes they go in, are worn which makes the valve less responsive. I fixed mine by brazing the holes full and re-drilling them. I also put new pins in.

What Pisses me off is I made adjustments that brought it from working flawlessly as far as ease of turning in both directions to only working easily in one direction and hard to turn the other direction.
There was play in the steering wheel, but at least it turned very easily before I adjusted.
can I possibly get some direction in getting it back in proper adjustment?

Do you have an assistant? If you do, have them turn the steering wheel back and forth while you watch the valve linkage. If there is any excess movement at either end of the valve, you need to deal with that first as I said before.

Thanks to Bob N.Y and Jack in NB
I have successfully got my power steering back with some fine tune adjustments guided by these 2.
Thank You!
