I just bought a MF65 with a front end loader and back hoe. The power steering does not work. Some prior owner took the original power steering pump off and covered the hole with a plate, then added a bracket on the right side for a power steering pump that is belt driven and looks like it came off an older car or pickup. Does anyone know if this is actually a good solution? Does the automotive pump deliver enough pressure to run the power steering? I removed the plate covering the original opening for the pump and discovered that one tooth on the idler gear that drives the pump is about half missing. What is the best way to proceed keeping in mind that I am somewhat limited by time and financial resources? Thanks.
