165 power steering cylinder

I need help from you guys with my 165. I rebuilt my power steering cylinder because the piston shaft was broke as well as it was leaking like crazy. Put it all back together & on the tractor but when i started the tractor wheels turned all the way right will not respond back left. thought maybe i hooked lines up wrong swapped them started tractor wheels go all the left no response back to center or right you can t even move the steering wheel at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to add that front end has a lot of wear in it. Also i put hydraulic oil in the pump instead of transmission fluid.

It might be ticklish because of too much wear in the linkage. I've got a 65 that I can only get right to one side or the other but not both. Its a very fine adjustment. Like 1/32 of a turn at a time.

If you've "adjusted that rod from one end to the other", then have you tried disconnecting it from the control valve completely? With nothing connected to the valve spool, will the steering still go full tilt whenever the engine starts? If so, then no amount adjustment will help you. You need to go back into the valve and see what went wrong. With linkage totally disconnected, you should be able to steer from lock to lock in both directions just by forcing the spool in and out manually. If you can't do that, you have some valve problems.
