Power Steering 1/8" street L needed mf65

I've got a slow leak in this nylon street L. From looking at it, it looks to be 1/8" pipe thread. I think the PO either tightened too tight or cross threaded the fitting. I would like to know if the part is available. It's the off white fitting at the bottom.

what is a nylon street L? are you talking about the brass fitting that hose is screwed into?
that is called a 90 degree crimp on fitting on that hose. ... but go to the dealer and he will tell you if its available. I don't think that brass fitting is correct there.

it's not brass, it's nylon, plastic anything other than metal. A street L is a 90° fitting female at one end and male at the other. Doesn't look like crimp on fitting, it's threaded both ends.

Looks to me to be the same type fitting that is used on brake systems. The tubing is flared and the male thread tightens it down on the matching bevel in the elbow. IMO

I'm not sure, very well could be. From looking at it though, MF sure didn't think about making it easy to change this fitting out. The lower portion of it is tight right up against the block. So, whatever the assembly is that it threads into will need to be removed to remove the fitting.

Looks like a brass fitting to me and I can't imagine why any one would use nylon on a power steering system. I can get those in brass at the local Ace hardware store.

How do I remove the piece it's attached to? The straight slot screws? Or the bolts that come all the way through from the other side? There isn't room to remove with leaving the piece it threads into attached to the tractor, it will hit the block.

Can someone take a peek in their repair manual and tell me if the part comes off in one piece, or will it disassemble when it is being detached? From parts breakdown pics I've seen, I'm guessing this is the pump assembly. Any help appreciated.

I've been trying to figure it out from the Agco parts book, and it looks like it has 3 bolts from front side of tractor that thread up to the pump, looks easy enough.

Okay, who has this part? The part number I got off of the Agco Partsbook.com is 187471M1 described as a Elbow, Pump outlet (1/4" P.T. X 7/16"-24, 90°.

The one side of the street accepts a male flare and the other is 1/8" npt. Someone previously took an elbow that was a straight 90° on the corner and ground down the brass so it will fit against the engine block after it is turned into the bottom of the pump, well they ground a bit too much and it has a hairline split in it. The local Massey dealer does not have the part. I'm thinking about taking it over to my welder and see if he can braze it. Let me know if you know of anyone who has the part.

The 187471M1 part number you have is for a diesel powered tractor, its uses a totally different pump than what the gas tractors used. For a gas powered tractor you need part number 196160M1.

Also try your local auto parts, or hardware store, they may have a fitting you can use (even if you have to file on it a little bit so it will fit).

It is a diesel tractor pt. Sorry, I thought you were aware of that. What I first tried was to have the welding shop braze it. It got a little hotter than he would have liked it, but as low as he could go on his argon setup and the puddle caved in. I did find the elbow at Napa. I scribed a pattern from the old one onto the new to know not to grind that deep. I put my angle grinder in the vice and put a thick pair of gloves on and carefully ground it down and rounded the corners. It worked perfectly. I've got it back together and no leaks. The welding shop didn't charge me, and Napa got $5.46.
Thanks again for your info. I appreciate it.

(quoted from post at 23:23:55 05/15/15) Why I thought it was gasser I don't know, but anyways glad you got fixed up again.
I'm glad also, half of this project not getting done was the fear of not knowing if the pump would break down in pieces when I removed the 3 bolts. But, after studying the parts breakdown I just couldn't see how it would break down on me with parts and springs flying lol. Now to the next thing, when i went to back out of the shop that right brake did not want to release. But thats in another topic.
