Going to check out a MF 65 diesel. Supposedly runs good and kept under shelter.
Any good advice for this model to focus on for issues? It does have an issue with power steering on one side not properly working.
Let me know what items you recommend checking for this model.

The early 65 diesel used the Perkins A4-203 engine which was indirect injection. The injectors are vertical. They were known to have cylinder head issues. Later 65 diesels used the Perkins AD4-203 engine direct injection. The injectors go in at an angle. It is a better engine. The power steering problem is probably due to adjustment and/or excess wear with the linkage.

To add to Bob's good advice, check out the brake function. This model utilized an expanding actuator and dry discs, which, when in good order, works well. As the material on the discs wore down though, the brake could often "jam" on, necessitating reversing the tractor to release the brake. Also, if there appears to be very little or no effective braking ability, there may be oil on the discs, which leaks into the brake compartment from either the centre housing or the outer epecyclic hub. Rebuilding the brakes does require solid equipment to handle the job safely. regards, Evan.

Check the oil in the planetaries, any water, and or rust colored oil in them I'd pass. The planetaries aren't cheap to rebuild, also take a look at the oil bath air filter.

Along with what the others have said I'd check out the rims and tires. Those power adjust rims are expensive. I've got five 65s. They're great little tractors.

Good input. That's what I was looking for. I am awaiting the serial number to see which engine it might be.

Just replaced one wheel for my 65-$600 plus for wheel, transfer of calcium and labor.
That wheel rusted where you put air in.
