friend asked to help get runnin...dont no any thing about ferguson...fresh gas and good battery...tester....were they 6 volt or positve
ground......dewy

TO20 "should" be 6 volt positive ground (unless someone changed it).

mine is iffy, at times the starter wont engage for no apparent reason and its a newer one, once you get it wired properly and that starter does something, one thing to look for is the ring gear, on earlier models it can slip back, mine is like that, I used to have a hand crank for mine and for the longest time I was hand starting it, its surprisingly easy, I discovered it by mistake while trying to turn the engine so the starter would engage the funky ring gear, forgot ignition on and it fired up.

wiring diagrams available online, forgot the website, but for now, 6v positive ground, run a wire to the coil and one to the starter see what you got.
