Loader install on MF240

I am wanting to install a loader on my MF240. Looks like with the factory pump it will be painfully slow. I saw mention of a pump that runs off of the main crank. Can anyone assist with information on parts needed and install instructions? Pictures would also be helpful.

If your tractor has the right front end support you can bolt a pump on it, and run it off the front of the crankshaft. If you don't have that front support a pto driven pump is your other option.

A front axle support for a front mount hydraulic pump.

I am going through the same task on a MF135 I just bought. I found diagrams of parts options in the online parts books at AgcoPartsBooks.com. Search for Massey Ferguson Loaders. I bought a Davis 99 loader that came off a MF40 industrial tractor from a local craigslist ad. It came with the front mounted pump but was missing the coupler parts, and the mounting brackets. A local supplier with a web presence, FarmlandTractor.com had the coupler parts so now I "just" have to fabricate a mounting bracket for the pump.

My MF-240-S has a MF-232 loader running off the transmisson pump, or whatever it is, [ it's not a front-end pump ] and yes, it is real slow. I'd for sure install front pump it I was installing it from scratch. The 232 loader has a tank / tanks built into the side mount frame, it I'm describing it correctly.
POST PICTURES when you get this done, I'd like to see them

I mounted a front pump on my 245 when it was restored. I pulled oil from the transmission-rearend housing by adapting the filter access cover. Mounted new couplings on back and found a double spool valve in local junkyard. System works well and pump is 15 gpm and have pressure relief set at 2400 psi.

What all is involved in the actual pump mounting? What mounting brackets, drive coupling/shaft components are needed and where are they available? Is the stock radiator an interference problem?

Harry, I found a pump from the Surplus Center. I think it was a Webster. I bought the front crank pulley adapter and the hollow axle pivot shaft from this site. I had a machine shop make the drive shaft and the SAE 1 pump mount flange. I drilled and tapped the front axle housing and centered the flange. After centering I then drilled through the flange and into the cast housing for two 1/4" roll pins to keep everything tight and centered. It has worked well. The parts I found and used may or may not still be available. I did this restoration in 2008.

C Elloitt: looks like a very nice job. I will look at my radiator area and see if I can do the same. I talked with a MF dealer yesterday and he said an auxiliary pump is available but the cost would be about what the loader would cost. Wanted me to buy a new MF Compact from him instead. I would also like to know if anyone has installed an auxiliary pump on a 240 and if so the parts needed and if they were satisfied with the outcome.
Thank all of you for your input.

I looked on my 240 and if the mount is there it is covered up by the front grille shroud.
I would be interested in installing an auxiliary pump. I talked with a MF dealer and he said it would be too expensive.
Wanted to sell me a new Compact MF though.
Has anyone here installed an aux. pump and if so could you provide me the parts needed and any issues you ran into?

The 240 uses the 1 7/8" diameter axle pivot pin same as the MF 2135 industrial. Changing the front support MF part number 506914M92 would make the front mount pump a bolt on.

Thank you for the information. Do you know if I could mount an auxiliary pump in the transmission instead to achieve the same purpose? If so do you know the parts required?

There isn't any easy "in the transmission" auxiliary pump that I know of that would have enough gpm output to run a fel. The only easy pump is one that runs off the pto shaft, but you have to take the pump off if you need the pto for something else.

I have noticed on the specs of other tractors they list an auxiliary pump. I realize that it may not be an easy install but is this an option and if I had part information I might be able to determine if it would be worth the effort. Could possibly pick up one from a salvage yard to install in my tractor.
Also the MF dealer I spoke with wanted to sell me a new Compact tractor. Not in the coffers. I would be interested to know what I need to look for if I decide to sell my tractor and buy a good used one with the needed hydraulics already installed to mount an FEL.
I do thank you greatly for all of your input and time.
