Did I wreck my rebuild?

I just had my 56 TO30 engine rebuilt, and took it out for a first outing with a finish mower. The mower hit a cedar log buried In High grass and stopped the engine. I disengaged the PTO and restarted the engine, but it doesn't run the same. It seems like it is missing sometimes, and will run fast, then nearly stall in an undulating pattern. Once it gets past the near stall phase, it starts running too fast, where I want to slow the idle. Any suggestions on where to start?

The jolt might have loosened crud in the tank or carb bowl. It sorta sounds like the linkage from the carb to the governor isn't working right.
All the wiring stuck on there tight?
Let's hope it isn't the governor itself, that's a big job. Good luck!
