165 leaking injection pump

The throttle shaft seal on the injection pump on my 165 has started leaking fuel. It leaks all the time, running or stopped. Where can I find a parts diagram for the pump? Anyone know off hand what's in there for a seal? It looks like it could be a simple fix, anyone else ever done it?

Well, if you're game to go into it, the leak 'could' or 'might' be fixed by something cheap and simple like a nylon O ring from a hardware store plumbing aisle.

You can look it up on line at " agcopartsbooks.com ", just sign in as a guest user and search for 165 model under Massey Ferguson brand.

You cannot get inj, pump parts through agco..You need a seal kit,(cheaper than the individual parts) And a new cap assy,The seals have cut a grove in the housing, All total, less than $200.00 Watch where the spring was connected!!!!
cted!!!!

If it is just o rings and such from the top of the pump about 16 bucks. Keep track of the spring location and clean it up very well before ever taking anything apart. Not a hard fix if you pay attention.

I sometimes install steel bushings in the cover if the bore is worn badly, and cover is one of the higher priced parts. Over time there will be deep grooves in the bore. My experience is it's best to completely reseal the pump in the long run, as other leaks usually show up later anyhow. At least that's what I've seen for forty years in pump repair...

Dieseltech has a point. My 245 had a small leak from the top cover, it was obvious it probably was resealed not too long before I got it, maybe they missed the o-rings?? The biggest leak was coming from the hydraulic head where it meets the main housing (governor housing). I took the pump off and resealed everything, purchased a complete seal kit for the pump.

It really wasn't that hard to do, just be extra clean and meticulous. Have a nice clean table or bench you can sit at for reseal. I downloaded/printed a cav pump manual I found on the internet and that helped a lot.

Google this "cav pump disassembly" and you will easily find the workshop manual and print it if wanted.
