MF-245 starts hard

just got a mf-245 diesel wont start without a shot of starting fluid but will start all day after that.. I don't see any glow plugs on it or block heater thanks cdv

Does it crank over well or a bit slow? May need starter repair or battery, or both. How much crankcase blowby is there when running, if a lot may be time for sleeves and pistons. If there is white smoke at cold starting means there's not enough compression heat, or timing can be off also if the engine cranks well. May be poor cable end connections too..

check all the previous post suggested, if all that is ok the injection pump is getting weak,those engines will start at less than 20 degrees without a starting aid with a good starting system if the engine is in reasonable shape
