Radiator burping???

I fear it is a head gasket leak. I just want someone else to confirm it. I just installed a new gasket ( and resurface) but I didn't use gasket sealant. Should I try radiator leak stop or anything like that first?
Now that I got the drill down I think it will be easy to pull the head again but I would rather not.

Any ideas welcomed.

Oh boy! That sucks! Sounds like your headed for a head gasket redo to me! What tractor you working on??
Had a MF 1135 do that same radiator burping thing you talk about......was the head gasket!
Make sure you check flatness of head and block before reassembly.
I'd recommend using that permatex copper coat gasket adhesive when installing new gasket......don't forget to torque bolts/studs in sequence per manual and after bringing engine up to operating temp retorque again. You probably already know the drill!!?? Lol
Good luck

All depends on what it is on but lack of info sure does not help us help you. If it has a thermosphine (sp) system that is normal

It is a Perkins D3'152 on a MF 30B
I got the gasket kit on Ebay but the head gasket didn't look like the old one. The holes line up but the old one was copper clad . The new one just had some metal rings around the combustion chambers and the rest was some Kevlar looking material. I had the head resurfaced and did the torque sequence. It ran for an hour or so. I wonder if I am supposed to re-torque after a run in time?

I have done many head gaskets on cars but this is my first diesel.

That engine should not be burping out bubbles or blowing out antifreeze! I question the quality of your gasket you had purchased!? Did you try getting this gasket from an AGCO dealer?
I personally prefer OEM parts whenever a job of this magnitude comes up.....hate doing this twice!
Yes, you should run engine up to operating temperature and the retorque head.

With the engine running and the radiator cap removed you should be able to see air bubbles in the coolant if the head gasket leaks. Since you described the problem as "burping" I would suspect the coolant is not flowing through the engine, faulty water pump, stuck thermostat, gasket blocking a water passage, etc. Burping to me is how a coffee pot operates, a volume of water is trapped and heated until it flashes to steam. The steam flash "burps" hot water into the coffee grounds to brew the coffee.

well before a tear down again, retorque it to 10 percent over spec. and in sequence and see what happens. make sure it is hot when torqueing. don't forget the valve resetting also... as what engine is this? I had one once that I didn't use a sealer and just did what I quoted and it sealed it self. lots of gaskets have the sealer built into them and they need the heat to seal.
